JUST IN: President Donald Trump signs executive orders advancing the construction of the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines.
House Speaker Paul Ryan is praising the moves.
“Thanks to President Trump's executive order, the Keystone pipeline and the Dakota Access pipeline can finally be built. It's about time. The unfortunate reality is that these important infrastructure projects were used by special interests to advance their radical anti-energy agenda and were therefore needlessly halted by the last administration—to the detriment of America’s national interest. These pipelines will strengthen our nation’s energy supply and help keep energy costs low for American families," Ryan released in a statement. “Congress is committed to working with President Trump to move forward with safe and vital infrastructure that will boost our economy and create thousands of good-paying jobs in states across the country.”
This morning, Trump met with a series of leaders from the auto industry at the White House to discuss manufacturing in America.
Yesterday, kicking off the first full week of his presidency, Trump signed executive orders reinstating the Mexico City policy, rejecting the Trans-Pacific Partnership and instating a federal hiring freeze with an exemption for the military.
