If only there was a vaccine to treat left wing hypocrisy

Boy, if it wasn’t for hypocrisy there would be no such thing as a liberal.
Jonathan Stewart, master of finding the front of a parade, blasted Rand Paul last night about something Paul said about vaccinations:
“But your choice puts other people in jeopardy — just ask a doctor,” Stewart said.
He cut to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), an ophthalmologist, who said on Monday that he’d heard of cases of normal children who “wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines.”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake,” the host said with a sigh. “Perhaps we should not have asked Dr. Rand Paul, who’s ‘heard things.'”
“He’s star of the hit medical drama ‘Dr. Paul: Anecdote Man,'” Stewart said.

Yet it was Stewart himself who, when speaking to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about the link between vaccinations and autism, had this to say:
“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”
So Stewart was one of the “vaccines cause autism” idiots. David Freddoso called Stewart the “douchebag of vaccination.”
Now, let’s cut to the CDC. Here is a list of possible severe untoward reactions to the DPT vaccine:
•Serious allergic reaction (less than 1 out of a million doses)
• Several other severe problems have been reported after DTaP vaccine. These include: ◦ Long-term seizures, coma, or lowered consciousness
◦ Permanent brain damage.
These do qualify as “profound mental disorders”, Stewart. And I have seen it happen.
We’ve already noted that both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama hedged their bets about vaccination.
The NY Times sank so low in blaming conservatives for the vaccination brouhaha that not even left wing liberal Matt Lauer could stand it.
The Times said:
“The vaccination controversy is a twist on an old problem for the Republican Party.”
Lauer responded:
“Let’s make it clear: This does not break down neatly between the right and the left. There are pockets of liberal affluent America where parents don’t want kids vaccinated.”
Joy Behar proved that the prerequisites to being a part of The View don’t include having a brain:
Former View cohost Joy Behar joked on Morning Joe Tuesday morning that the reemergence of vaccine denialism thanks to a handful of GOP figures meant her old colleague Jenny McCarthy, in large part responsible for the mainstreaming of the vaccine-autism link, was suddenly presidential candidate material, at least on the right.
“My friend Jenny McCarthy is in the middle of this,” Behar said. “She said it caused autism back then. Now presidential candidates are agreeing with her! So my feeling is: why doesn’t Jenny run for president?”
Being the simpleton she is, Behar conflated the issues of reactions to vaccines and thimerosal causing autism.
(It doesn’t)
Behar’s TV companion, Jenny McCarthy, has been a longtime opponent of vaccination.

The Daily Beast
places a lot of the blame for the anti-vaccination crowd on Hollywood- specifically Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey, Charlie Sheen, Bill Maher, Billy Corgan, Mayim Bialik, Alicia Silverstone and Oprah.
And speaking of douchebags, who could forget Bill Maher’s wisdom on vaccination?
“So why would you let [the government] be the ones to stick a disease into your arm? I would never get a swine flu vaccine, or any vaccine. I don’t trust the government, especially with my health.”
The left is the wellspring of the anti-vaccination movement, not the right. It is the wealthy liberals of Sausalito and Malibu, the Hollywood gang, the greenies and the crunchies who deny the science.
Not conservatives. Liberals.
Rand Paul was right in what he said. Everyone critical of him is wrong.
Liberals demand to have control of your children, demand control of what they eat and control of what you do in the toilet, but they want to be able to terminate babies the day before they’re born and want you to stay out of their bedrooms. They want choice but don’t want you to have choice.
If you had a knife, you could cut the irony.
And for your entertainment, here is a marvelous piece from Penn and Teller. (Language warning)
I have absolutely no doubt that the current outbreak of measles is related to the invasion of illegals, just as was the outbreak of EV 68. It’s brought into a country which had pretty much eradicated the disease and it’s now caught up with the kids of the parents who thought they knew better than did the doctors.
I laughed when I read Freddoso’s description of Stewart as the “Douchebag of vaccination.” But he could have left off the “of vaccination” part.
