Las abuelitas están viajando por el tiempo
en zapatillas cósmicas. - Scott Edmund Woods No sé qué coleccionan Ustedes, pero yo colecciono trasteros y sillas viejas.
Estas vienen a nuestra puerta casi por sê solas, pero a menudo con un dueño
que quiere limpiar su patio o su área de almacenaje. Están en mal estado –
¡necesitan reparaciones!
Estas sillas representan las abuelas de Casas Grandes, México, aquellas que
ya no están con nosotros. La instalación celebra a esas mujeres especiales



quienes conservan nuestro patrimonio cultural y preparan nuestro futuro.
Las sillas representan las abuelas, las guardianas de nuestras tradiciones.
Las sillas también representan la importancia simbólica de la influencia de
las abuelas, y de su amor a los colores vivos. Se halla aquê la definición
misma de sus almas latinas.
Aquê se sienta la abuela, aunque su alma viaje por el tiempo y por el espacio.
Se sienta, tranquila, su voz no más que un susurro ƒ animando y dando
fuerza a las mujeres jóvenes de Casas Grandes.
Nos sirven de inspiración en estos tiempos difêciles.

I don't know what you collect, but I collect old chairs and trasteros. They come to our front gate almost by themselves now, but often with an owner who wants to clean up a yard or storage area. They are broken down – in need of repair!
These chairs represent the grandmothers of Casas Grandes, Mexico, those who are no longer with us. This installation celebrates those special women who preserve the cultural heritage and prepare the future. They represent the grandmothers, the keepers of our tradition.
The chairs also represent the symbolic importance of the grandmothers' influence and their love of abundant color. The very definition of their Latina soul is represented here.
Grandmother is sitting here, although her soul is traveling through time and space. She sits in serenity, her voice but a whisper, encouraging and empowering the young women of Casas Grandes.
They are our inspiration in these tough times.
